Life gives us ample opportunities to do what we want. But our lame excuses tear things apart. Many of the successful entrepreneurs still recall how their childhood advises from their mentors have helped them get over excuses that could kill career opportunities they had.
Patty Lennon is a crowdfunding expert, author and founder of a successful crowdfunding consulting firm. She says one of her schooldays teacher used to tell her not to make excuses for wrong things in life; rather, change the behavior.
This was a great childhood learning for her which helped her change the outlook for life. So now when things go wrong, or she fails to achieve a business goal, she doesn’t try to find the reasons to back up her failure. Instead, she tries to change her behavior.
So, it’s important to remember that excuses can never get you success. Let’s see how you significantly lower your chances of freelancing success by making these worst excuses –
Excuse 1# You Never Had the Opportunities
It sounds like a disastrous excuse. Life is never perfect. It’s an absolutely silly thing to think that there will be a perfect moment to start something you love, or make the highest effort for your freelancing career. No, it’s never going to happen. The only sure thing in life is that there will always be some roller coaster time.
Read how some of the best entrepreneurs succeed. If you don’t have money, there are many things that you can start without significant investments.
Being a freelancer, you always have the chance to start small, and then grow your business gradually. You need motivation, courage and determination to push your career ahead. Everything else come after that. So, don’t wait for things to get settled. Don’t wait for opportunities to come. Take things in your hand. Find your own opportunities and go for it.
Excuse 2# You Don’t Have Enough Time
This is another lame excuse which can significantly ruin your freelancing career. A best selling author, business and data expert Bernard Marr says most successful entrepreneurs like Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates also have the same 24 hours in a day.
But, the biggest difference between us and those people, is that they know how to make the best use of time. Most successful entrepreneurs are efficient time managers.
Work when you feel you’re the most energetic and productive. Numbers of people have talked about time management tips and techniques. Keep yourself happy and inspired to reduce waste of time.
Be mindful to identify the present opportunities. You will have to leave behind the negativities of the past if you want to have enough time in your hand. The more you worry about the past and the future, the higher will be the waste of time. So, you don’t have enough time is just an excuse that can only kill your freelancing career.
Excuse 3# You’re Not that Talented
The moment you think so, you ruin all success possibilities. It’s not talent you should be looking for. It’s uniqueness that you should be after. All of us has an uniqueness that differentiates us.
You are known for your own style of work. Explore your strengths and unique abilities. Maybe, you write with an extremely affectionate tone that no one does. Or you are very good in people management. Maybe you can friends very quickly.
So, in all, you should try to find out your strengths and weaknesses. Don’t find the excuses which can only delay your success.
